The European Commission has published an article on the market surveillance conference of 24th November 2011. Discussions are now ongoing with the European Commission (DG ENTR) on the follow-up of this event. As far as mechanical engineering is concerned, the issue has gained momentum following the conference but also the recommendations made in the study on the competitiveness of the mechanical industry. Market surveillance has surely become a political issue and many decision-makers have understood that the Internal Market does not exist because rules are adopted but because they are enforced.
